Meet Piper or Piper Puppy as we affectionately call her. This spunky ball of fur is confident, athletic, fearless, determined and high energy. She loves toys and is already crazy about tugging. She is also very social and wants lots of interaction with her family. These factors open the door to a great future as a performance dog or as a beloved pet for a family who has time to keep her engaged in fun and challenging activities.
Because she is very confident she will require a home that is dog-savvy (experience with the border collie breed would be a plus) and is willing to set limits for her as she would like to be in charge, even at this young age. Obedience training will be a must for her new family. We have started her on basic training. In the ten days that she has been at our house, she has learned the following commands: sit, down, touch and come. We will continue with her training. She loves treats and has proven to be a quick study.
She has also been started on house and crate training. She is doing great with both but as a young puppy needs constant supervision while out of the crate. We estimate her age at 11 weeks. She weighs approximately 6.5 pounds and is the smallest puppy in the litter. Based upon her weight and size now, I expect her to be a medium- sized dog. While we are not sure of her father’s heritage, her mom is a purebred border collie and Piper’s actions are 100 percent border collie. Because she likes to play very rough, she will not be placed in a home with children younger than ten years old. Please consider making this adorable puppy part of your family.
Because of Piper's young age we are requiring the adoptive family to take a puppy class and the next level of obedience. Piper will be adopted with a spay contract that can be viewed on our website with the adoption contract.
