Charlie is a ten month- old male border collie who was found wandering around a lake in the KC area with part of a leash still on him. Attempts to find his owner were unsuccessful. Hard to believe that someone is not missing this guy as he has such a bright and frisky personality. Charlie has transitioned beautifully into his foster home. He would love to have all 5 dogs be his friend, but learned quickly that only 2 have much interest in running and wrestling with him. He is a young guy and trying to figure out the whole pecking order concept and needs a human leader to reinforce what behavior is ok and what is not. Charlie shows no food or toy aggression although he will absolutely try to get to the ball before the other guy! He is a speedy fellow and has some cute trick moves that could be useful on a basketball team. His adorable head tilt would drive the fans wild. Charlie listens quite well and his little acts of mischief are easily corrected. He is currently interested in trash cans and pantries and keeping those things off limits is important. He likes treats and he loves toys, all kinds, so he is very easy to train. Charlie walks nicely on a leash with a martingale collar and has had no accidents in his foster home. He does not resist crating and is quiet all night. Charlie knows sit and is getting the hang of “wait” in many instances. He will absolutely know “leave it” by the end of today! He is picking up on recall in the backyard but will need a fenced in yard for safety. Charlie has not been tested in a thunderstorm, but loud noises do not scare him. He is ok with the leaf blower and the vacuum cleaner and does not act insane around them. If you are in the market for another border collie, or an interactive dog as a companion to another active dog, Charlie could be the one for you. He does have an “off” switch and he does know how to entertain himself if he wears down the dogs in his home (or the people). There is no meanness in Charlie, just a zest for life. Charlie is being fostered in Columbia, MO
