Shea is a 1 year old female border collie. She was found running loose as a stray with her littermate. Shea is a lovely girl, fast, athletic and nicely built with a medium energy level and nice off switch. She is happy to run and play as long as someone wants her to but will settle down around the house and play with toys on her own or simply relax. She is also a sweet little girl who love a good belly rub and cuddle. She is crate trained and housebroken, sleeps through the night and can be left crated while we are away at work for the day. She should not be left loose unattended however as she will occasionally still chew furniture! Shea loves toys but will destroy and destuff them! She is also a strong chewer and will need appropriate toys. She enjoys tugging with other dogs and will likely enjoy fetching if she is by herself (with other dogs around she likes to herd and not fetch). She gets along well with other dogs of various sizes, both male and female. She likes to play with cats and may chase them but won't hurt them. She rides will in the car both loose and crated but does still sometimes get carsick. She has been to a few agility trials and although overwhelmed at first she settles in quickly and is happily playing and meeting new people by the end of the day. She can be a little shy at first in new places or with strangers but will warm up quickly. Attending an obedience class and regular socialization will help with this. Shea would make a great family pet or companion but could also be trained for dog sports. She is approximately 30 lbs, smooth coated and has a docked tail. She knows sit and wait pretty well and typically comes when called. She has also passed the BCSA herding instinct test. She will make someone an all around great little dog! Shea needs a fenced yard to keep her safe. Shea is being fostered in the Springfield area.
