Hank is a 3 year old border collie. He came to us from a home that had to move to a house with a smaller yard. After fostering Hank, I can see why a smaller yard would not work for him as he is full of energy and loves to play. His favorite game is fetch. Be ready as you pull out a ball or frisbee as he will run and vibrate with excitement over to the door. He loves to play fetch and will drop the toy instantly upon return for you to throw again. He is a great running buddy and does well when running and walking on his leash. He is quite interested in the squirrels, but with a quick ‘leave it’ he happily continues on his way. He has been a little scared of the cars going by when on walks, but comes right to your side. In general he is fearful of loud noises, and really did not like the last thunderstorm, but when he is scared he runs right to his human for reassurance.

Hank had other dogs in his previous home that he was friendly with. He was a little less sure of his foster brother at first, but has warmed up to him with time. At first, he would play with his foster brother but growl at him if he came up to us when we were petting Hank. With just a little work, this has stopped, and now he will cuddle up with us and his foster brother at the same time. From the get go, he loved playing tug and ball with his foster brother.

Hank has been very friendly with all of the passersby when we go for walks. He wags like crazy and really wants to say hello to everyone. He has met our neighbors with a 2 yr old, and he cannot get enough pets from them. He even did well when the little boy gave him a big hug. Hank has adored all of the children he's met, of all ages, and we'd love for him to go to a home where he can have kids to play with and love on. He is insistent on giving love and kisses to anyone that is willing, and sometimes even if you weren’t expecting that kiss.

Hank is a very smart boy and will require someone that has time to stimulate his brain. He quickly learned some of our house routines - sitting before doors are opened, sitting before getting dinner - and figured out the dog door in no time.

Hank is house broken and crate trained. He knows sit, kennel up, and is working on a few more commands, which I think he will pick up in no time. He does not mind baths, playing with his feet, or even looking at his teeth.  He is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped and on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventatives.

Hank is being fostered in Lawrence, KS.
