Jake is approximately 8 years old and moderately overweight at 66 pounds. He has had a few homes in his years and lived outside for a time with matted fur and loneliness. Most recently, he enjoyed the good life with a fenced yard, doggie playmates, and two doting stay at home parents. He has the energy of a healthy middle aged dog. He loves his walks, walks politely on leash, then settles down nicely in the house. Jake’s favorite thing in the world is people. Any people. All people. He wags at people on walks and tries to greet them. He sits at strangers’ feet at the dog park and leans on them. He gets along with every dog he’s met and has zero resource guarding behaviors. He is so friendly that he ignores warning cues from other dogs. Large, playful puppies have picked on him at the dog park and he is oblivious. He enjoys playtime with his own trusted packmates and likes to run when other dogs in the park chase tennis balls. Jake’s only downfall is that he doesn’t like being left alone. He will chew a blanket if crated and will bark for a while. He would do best in a house instead of an apartment unless he’s never alone or the neighbors don’t mind some protest barks. He would enjoy a fenced yard but would do fine with at least one long walk daily. Jake is being fostered in the St. Louis area.
