Scarlett is a one year old 35 pound medium energy Border Collie mix.  She was found abandoned in rural Missouri and spent some time at a shed like animal shelter.  There was no known prior vetting but luckily she was heartworm negative.  She doesn't seem to be affected much by all the changes she has had over her first year.  She is very affectionate and playful.  Loves people and other dogs, we haven't had the opportunity to have her around cats so don't know how she will do.  Very gentle when taking food or playing with people; will bitey play with dogs but not people even if you try to rough house with her.  Can get a little intimidated with new people, will bark at strangers walking by but is fine with them coming in the house or backyard.  She's fine being petted by new people but can get scared if also being held onto by someone she doesn't know.  Tried to bite the vet at the first appointment.  Would recommend she be watched around new kids, grabbing collar, ears or face might cause her to get intimidated. 

She loves walks and basically anything she can do with you.  Will crawl up in your lap and just curl up, isn't respectful of that text you're trying to send.  Calm in the car and just lays down and waits to get there.  Likes to fetch toys and balls, usually will bring them back.  Plays well with other dogs but can be a pest trying to get them to play back.  House and kennel trained, doesn't like to go in the kennel at night but doesn't put up a fight and is quiet.  She will go lay in open kennel if she's tired during the day and few people are around.  Still working on not jumping up on people but she is gentle when she does, almost just stands up on her back legs.  She has learned "sit" and is a very treat motivated, trainable dog.
