Meet Rue, a beautiful black and white BC mix, about 2 yrs old. We think her freckles are so pretty, and she has the softest, most shiny coat!
She was in a rural shelter for a few months before she found her way to rescue.
Rue is a little shy and timid meeting new people, will warm up in time. She has bonded with her foster mom, rarely allowing her out of sight. She is happy to be in a cozy dog bed, or beside or at the feet of her foster mom. She now wags her tale and is giving kisses only to her favorite people that have earned her trust. Rue has met young children, a little timid, but warms up and then allows pets and affection.
Rue has not had many in house or city life experiences, so many things to learn about and explore. She has adjusted to the house, is crate trained. When she is tired, she will go in her open crate to rest and sleep.
Rue walks well on a leash with an Easy Walk Harness, and pack walks with her foster sisters. She sits perfectly and waits to have her harness put on to go for walks. She is learning to leave the squirrels and other dogs alone, and is focusing on foster mom with treats, yummy! She is VERY food motivated, reminded to take treats gently. She knows “sit, look, come, and down”. She is a soft dog, very sensitive to voice changes, or loud noises.
Rue LOVES all other dogs and loves to play. Her foster sisters warm up slowly, she has taken correction from 4 bossy females, is slowly getting them to play. Rue would do great with another playful dog, and one to help her build her confidence.
Rue will form a strong bond with her person or people. She loves to ride in the car in a crate. We are going to explore hiking in the woods, she is up for any adventure you might enjoy.
Rue does not show any toy interest, but she did pick up a tennis ball a few days ago. I think she is trying to figure out why her foster sisters think the ball is so great. She enjoys running after them in the yard when they are after a ball.
She enjoys a stuffed frozen PB Kong. She has decided some shoes need to be moved to the kitchen from the closet, doesn’t chew them, just putting them in a new spot.
Rue is super sweet, sensitive, really wanting to please her person. She will need patience in her new home allowing her to relax and adjust to her new space. She will need brain games, continued training, and consistent exercise to keep her happy and build her confidence. Rue has not been cat tested, we will do that when she is fully recovered from her spay. Does Rue sound like the perfect dog to add to your home? Please apply to adopt. Rue is waiting to meet you!! Rue is being fostered in the Kansas City area. More about RueGood with Dogs, Good with Kids, Good with Adults, Does Good in the Car, Timid, Skittish, Affectionate, Intelligent, Gentle
