Olive is a sweet 6-7 yo Boarder Collie that was found as a stray near Joplin Missouri. This gentle soul was not claimed by an owner and in the shelter for 1.5 months before tagged for rescue to help her find her forever home. Whoever adopts this girl will be one lucky family! Olive is a low to medium energy gal who will run around and play for a while and then settle in quietly on couch or dog bed or snuggle with her people. One of her favorite activities is belly rubs, as I do not think there is enough belly rubs to satisfy this girls desire for affection. She is housetrained, crate trained and does well on leash. She is not 100% sure what her name is yet, but is learning quickly. Minimal to no barking while outside or inside the house. Is easy going with other dogs and is indifferent with cats. At night she is content to sleep in her crate and sleeps all the way through the night with not a peep. In the morning she waits patiently to come out of her kennel and will greet the morning with butt wiggles and tail wags. She is great for grooming, nail trims and great at the vet, as she does not know a stranger and friendly with everyone she meets. Is a little shy when first meeting new people but that does not stop her “I love everyone attitude.” We do soak her food for awhile prior to feeding as some of her teeth are worn down by her previous life. But that does not stop her from enjoying a crunch dog biscuit which she thoroughly enjoys! She is not destructive with bedding or toys (she does not have much interest in toys currently but that may change as she comes out of her shell a little more). She does have some anxiety when riding in a car, as sometimes she likes to bark at the passing cars. We have been working on this and after only three lessons is already much better. She rides in a kennel and tethered very well. Easy to correct with an “aatt” or “no”. If you are interested in a lifelong buddy for activity or to snuggle this is your girl. She is happy go lucky and ready to meet her forever family. Olive is being fostered in the Columbia, MO area.
