Liberty was found stray in Arkansas and made her way to Columbia where she is being fostered with MOKAN BC Rescue. “Libby” is a petite one year old female that weighs 35#. She may not be very big, but she loves life with every ounce of her being! Every dog she meets is a new potential friend and she does some pretty amazing moves to engage them to play with her. She does not easily give up! I have had many LOL moments watching her try to get my grumpy aussie to chase her. If her efforts fail, she will resign herself to playing with one of many toys. She isn’t picky and enjoys sticks as much as balls or squeaky toys. She loves to be busy. Libby has a hearing deficit and may be completely deaf. She takes her cues from other dogs in her foster home and is learning hand signals. She is a very quick study! Libby will do best in a home with another dog who has good recall and a fenced in yard. Libby is usually able to make it outside to potty though she has had a couple accidents. She needs to be let out regularly and told to “potty”. Otherwise she gets too involved in running around that she forgets about the whole potty thing until she makes it back inside. She is definitely figuring it out and the dog door too. Libby is already pretty used to the crate and has been sleeping for 8 hours crated in her foster mom’s bedroom. She loves to go for car rides and is fine with or without a crate. Libby is learning commands and knows sit, paw, down, and “no”. Due to her hearing deficit, she is learning to come with a hand signal but she is also wonderful with following my one border collie who is good with recall so I think we will get this all figured out without much problem. Libby prefers not to use a leash. She thinks she is a big girl and doesn’t need such a stupid thing as a leash to tell her which way to go. But, she does walk quite nicely with a training collar and has learned that putting up a fuss doesn’t mean she gets her own way. Libby has been cat tested and says she would love to have a cat in her new home! She is playful with cats that will play with her and avoids those who hiss. She does not have a strong herding or prey drive. She is definitely one of the friendliest and most confident border collies I have worked with. Libby is being fostered in Columbia, MO
