Gemini is going to be a wonderful pet for one lucky family. This border collie has just the right amount of energy and his behaviors are a little quirky but not too weird! Gemini walks nicely with a flat collar and needs very little correction. I think he could make a good running partner. Although Gemini will require a fenced in yard, he is learning to be off leash and is pretty reliable with recall on his foster home property. He is not quite ready to walk the leash free trails as he can get distracted by a squirrel or just interesting smell. We will continue to work on that. By far Gemini’s favorite activity is chasing the tennis ball. If you sit down, he will bring it back and place it in your lap. If you walk to him to get the ball, he will dash away and make a game of it. This is definitely his favorite sport but he is finding out that playing with other dogs is equally exhilarating! Gemini just loves to wrestle and chase around 2 other border collies in his foster home and he will do so inside and outside. He will roughhouse but he doesn’t get too rough. He is becoming very skilled at being “dog savvy”. Gemini is housetrained and I have never seen him get up on any furniture. He is crated every night and he likes the routine of running to his crate and sitting nicely so he gets his beloved peanut butter filled hard bone. He is also very quiet and I rarely hear him bark. He sits and waits nicely for his food. He is eager to learn and is just a very likeable dog. In the photos, you will see that Gemini has a short coat. Don’t let that fool you. He was shaved due to many mats. His fur will grow out into a thick long striking coat although we consider him awfully handsome right now! I think that anyone who is looking for an interactive dog with a moderate energy level, should consider this sweet fella. Gemini is being fostered in Columbia, MO.
