Kensa is an energetic, strikingly beautiful, tri-color smooth-coat Border Collie. She is likely approximately 1-2 years old. Kensa was found with a collar and invisible fence collar (no tags and no chip) and was delivered to a vet clinic, where she stayed for a few weeks. After no owner claimed her, she was turned over to Mo-Kan. Kensa adores people and is extremely affectionate. She will melt your heart the first time you meet her. She will look at you with her adoring eyes, lean her head into you, and once you start petting her, she’ll beg you to be hers forever. She is wonderful with children, and lays down for belly rubs from them. She is happiest when she is going for a walk, when catching a ball or Frisbee, and when playing with toys (while “talking” to her toys with happy grumbles and rumbles). She will also cheerfully accompany you on a jog if you are a runner. She is completely housebroken. She has learned to crate on command and once in is calm and comfortable. She sleeps through the night quietly in her crate as well. In just a very short time, Kensa has learned sit and down, and is quickly improving on heel, stay and come. She is a quick learner when there are no distractions, and we are working on keeping her attention with distractions as well. She is timid of new situations, but will accept new things once she has time to observe. She can get overwhelmed at times by a jumble of new sights and sounds, but a little quiet time will renew her. Patience and training are key in helping Kensa to get over some of the anxiety she has with new situations. She is anxious with thunderstorms, but copes quite well if given a quiet place during the storm. She was initally afraid of baths, but now she is becoming more accepting of them. Kensa is very energetic and intelligent. She would thrive in a family wanting to support a high level of exercise and training to keep her mind occupied. She would also likely excel in a variety of dog sports. Due to Kensa’s exuberance in play, the best fit for Kensa would be with a balanced dog about her size that likes to play or she would do great as an only dog. She tends to play too rough with small dogs. Kensa respects cats if the cat is dog-savvy and knows how to deliver the “don’t touch me” vibe (a barn cat “trained” Kensa in about 10 seconds simply with a “death stare”… Kensa now steers clear). She was initially very timid of horses, but after just a couple visits to the barn, she is far more relaxed (though maintains a safe and respectful distance from the horses). Kensa can’t wait to find her forever family. When she does, I guarantee she will shower you with endless affection. Kensa is being fostered in the Wichita, KS area. She will need a standard upbove ground fenced yard to keep her safe. CHECK OUT KENSA'S VIDEOS.
