Ty is a very sweet 4 year old red and white border collie. Ty came to us after living the last year at the end of a chain, with a barrel as a house. Prior to that, we were told Ty belonged to an old man that couldn’t get him to work cattle, so he gave him away. When he first arrived, Ty was food aggressive with our dogs. After talking to his previous owner, we found that other dogs that were loose would steal his food if he didn’t guard it. Once he discovered he no longer had to fight for his food, the aggression disappeared. Ty is now housebroken, and he last time he “marked” was when we had several dogs come to visit, so we feel it was the excitement. He is easily corrected for the most part. If he wants to lay on you, but it’s not a good time for you, he has a difficult time obeying, but we feel we are making progress. He just loves to be loved. We are working on Ty’s coat, giving him salmon oil in his food. The undercoat is still brushing out...he had a lot of old stuff in there. Ty is touchy about having his back end and paws touched. He has never offered to bite...just sniff and lick, but I just talk to him when I will be touching those areas. Ty is not crate trained, but he has been left for several hours with our other dogs in the house(we have a doggie door), and has been fine. He sleeps with my husband and I, either between us, or at our feet. Ty had no idea what a toy was when he arrived. He now LOVES toys, especially squeaky tennis balls, and basically anything that makes noise. He is a hoarder, and has a collection. Ty is becoming more outgoing and learning to catch a tennis ball. He can jump pretty high, so frisbee may be something he might like in the future. When outside the fence, Ty listens when called. He seems to respond best to “Ty-Ty”. While Ty loves being outside, he is satisfied being wherever you are. Ty is a suuuper sweet boy. He needs a loving forever home, with someone willing to teach him gently how to be a dog. He is super smart, so it really isn’t hard to show him right from wrong. Ty has been very easy to fall in love with. Such a sweet soul. Ty is being fostered in the Springfield, Mo area.
