If you’re looking for a loving, calm, quiet border collie, then you came to the right place. My name is Lady, and I’m a five year old border collie who LOVES a good snuggle! I came into rescue with heartworms, and after three long months, I have completed heartworm treatment and am ready to find my forever home.
I am great with cats and dogs both, and I love kids (my foster has a 6 year old and an 11 year old). I don’t jump, I rarely bark, I’m excellent in the kennel, though sometimes pull at the bars or my bedding if I think I’m being ignored. I’m incredibly awesome at pottying outside on our walks. I’m good in the bathtub and for my nail trims, but I don’t necessarily like them. It’s okay as long as you give me kisses, though. I am afraid of thunder and want to get to my crate. I would do well in a home with another dog or as an only dog.
Foster mom says I am laid back, quiet, polite and easy-going. I don’t ask for petting because I assume you know I love it. Once you start, I relax into your hands and bow my head. If you stop, I convince you to keep petting me by rubbing my paws across my face. I get so excited about going for walks and wag my tail constantly while walking. I’m good on my leash too… no pulling!
At home, I spend most of my time lounging and adore laying for hours in the sun on my apartment’s deck. I don’t require a fenced yard, but would really enjoy rolling in the grass if you have one.
I haven’t had the opportunity to really run yet. With heartworms, I had to stay very calm, and I was really good at just chillin’, but I may be more playful and run if you let me! I have one naughty thing I have done at my foster home a few times, but it may have been because I was bored, relaxing all the time. I like to chew and eat shoe strings on shoes, and I will completely destroy and eat soft toys or anything that seems like a soft toy. Other than that “oopsie,” my foster mom says I’m the best dog she has ever fostered (and that’s saying a lot!).
I’m up to date on vaccinations and heartworm/flea/tick prevention, and I must stay up to date on these for the rest of my life. I also need rechecked for heartworms in July, and regularly after that every year when I get my annual vaccines.
I am being fostered in the Kansas City area. I would love to meet you!
