Spark (aka the Happy Nugget) came to Mokan by way of a rural shelter in Western Oklahoma but thanks to some quick actions of our volunteers this sweet dog went from his risky environment to having a soft place to lay his head and await his forever family.
This young boy has been an absolute joy to have in foster and is more of a big teddy bear than a dog half of the time. He loves to cuddle, love head scratches, is friendly, playful, well behaved, house broken, affectionate, and has a smile that will melt your heart. His tail practically only stops wagging when he sleeps and it's rare that he's not directly following you room to room. He's sweet with people and animals alike and has an increasing interest in toys and playing fetch. He's also quite gifted at chasing and catching flying bugs!
Spark would be well suited for various types of families with one specific need: his new home must have a fenced yard to keep him safe. One of his favorite things to do is be outside in the sunshine on a nice day. Need a gardening buddy? Kiddos need a rival soccer player? Here's your boy. He's even content just being outside by himself or with his foster sibling. He won't be your high performance trail running buddy or agility champion, and while he's an expert nap-taker it would be great to find a moderately active household with space to get out his 'yard zoomies' and throw his fetch ball.
Spark's new family also must be willing to accommodate his separation anxiety. Admittedly Spark has not adapted well to his crate, and while he will step inside it to eat his meals, any attempt to leave him in it overnight will result in several less hours of sleep for the household. But luckily, he has been tested out of his crate for several hours while foster mama is away, every time without incident. And his favorite place to sleep at night is curled on the floor next to your bed, snoozing soundly and again without incident.
Spark is approximately 3 years old and weighs slightly over 40lbs. He's a huggable ball of sweetness and would make the perfect little companion animal for a lucky family. He is neutered and is up to date on vaccines.
Spark is being fostered in Bentonville, AR.
