Many have followed Nemo’s story since coming into rescue mid November. He was likely dumped in rural Mo. with a severe, life threatening leg injury. Nemo was moved to Kansas City and treated at Blue Pearl Emergency Veterinary Clinic. Mokan is thankful for all of the support, well wishes, and generous donations to support his ongoing medical care. Nemo was found to have an old untreated, fractured femur that had healed, and 2 painful, fractured/broken teeth that were extracted. Thanks to our amazing fosters, Nemo is healthy and now ready to find his forever home! We don’t know anything about Nemo’s former life before rescue, but think it wasn’t a pleasant one, likely never in a house. He is a beautiful, 2 yr old smooth coat, black and white bc/mix, on the slim side, about 41lbs. Nemo is shy, submissive and so sweet. He is coming out of his shell, becoming more social. He now often comes to us, seeking affection, pets and belly rubs. Nemo is looking for an adopter familiar with the BC breed, and one that has the patience and knowledge to work with a shy dog. He must have positive, force free training in order to continue to gain confidence, and blossom to be his best. Nemo would probably enjoy an obedience class with his adopter. Nemo is VERY food motivated has learned “touch, look, sit, down” working on “come”. He is loving his training with his foster mom, learning how be such a good boy! He receives lots of enrichment to build his confidence. He loves stuffed Kongs and uses a snuffle mat for his meals. Nemo is house trained, and loves his crate, his safe, quiet place. He has discovered toys and loves to remove the stuffing! His favorite is a Wubba Kong squeaker toy that he repeatedly tosses in the air and catches. Nemo has a VERY strong herding instinct and strong eye, will herd his foster sisters. Many dogs do not appreciate this ( one of his sisters does NOT). Foster mom is working on this, but he is determined! They all enjoy playing run and chase in the yard. Would be great as a solo dog, or another dog that doesn’t mind the herding. Nemo would prefer a more quiet home without the chaos of younger children. He is a very soft, sensitive boy, and needs a kind, patient adopter. He has been very friendly with guests and visiting children. He has not been introduced to cats. Nemo is starting to enjoy long walks on leash with his foster sisters. He is getting more confident and walks well with a loose leash. He would probably enjoy hiking as well. Does Nemo sound like the perfect boy that you can welcome into your home? Given time, love, and training, you will have a forever faithful, loyal companion. Nemo will need a secured fenced yard. Complete an adoption application to meet Nemo, he is ready for his deserving, loving home! Nemo is being fostered in the Kansas City area, UTD on all vetting, preventatives, and neutered.
