Devon is a petite 30 pound, 1-2 year old rough coated Border Collie or mix who was found running loose in the country. From appearances and behavior, he was a moderately neglected outside dog before he came into our care in July. Devon is affectionate, enjoys other dogs, and is good with cats. He is cautious in new-to-him situations. He thinks any snuggle and petting that is going on should include him.  

After his first two weeks, he is becoming more relaxed and self-expressed as he adjusts to his new environment’s variables: slick floors, doorways, new sounds, loud dog friends. He is slowly filling out his weight and his coat will improve in time for the summer 2025 shedding season.

Devon is crate trained, potty trained with supervision and a routine, and is quiet indoors. He is learning to walk well on a leash and does not pull.  He needs a fenced yard and has obeyed a chain link fence as his current boundary. He would like a dog friend but does not require one. He has been around older children and has liked every person he has met. Devon would benefit from confidence-building training.
