Cole, or Cole B. Jack as his foster family calls him, is very smart, full of personality & overall a confident, friendly puppy with just the cutest markings (that eyebrow!). He really loves people & has been great with every new dog he’s met, interested in playing but also listening to the adult dogs who tell him when it’s enough. He is such a fun little guy to foster & is really going to be a gem of a dog for his future family! Cole absolutely ADORES food. He can get a little frantic/pushy about food especially at meal times, but he is such a quick learner and is already making good progress on working for treats. He’s been picking up new tricks in just one session, & his recalls out on hikes are already great for a young puppy. He also loves his toys & very much enjoys a game of tug, on a tug toy or anything he can find to tug on. The game of fetch is really clicking & has shown enthusiasm chasing discs & has potential to be a disc dog. His chase drive & return are both strong, but we’re still working on letting go of the toy to throw it again. He adores playing with people but is also independent and able to entertain himself whether with a toy or with a chew (preferably a couple of each!). He has an incredible nose when it comes to sniffing out food & might really enjoy nosework or other sniffing based sports. He has both toy and food drive and will likely make a good training partner in a sport or active family home. Cole will need a family dedicated to continuing his training. He is very much a puppy still but he is very clever and really wants to learn. He picked up on potty training immediately, sleeps through the night in his crate, loves riding in his car crate & focuses most of his puppy chewing on the appropriate toys & chews. He still on occasion will try mouth at human feet, hands, arms and legs when overly excited or overly tired. He is easily redirected to a toy or other appropriate chewy and he’s very responsive to other dogs telling him it’s too much. However, this occasional puppy biting is why he may be best for a home without young children or elderly pets. He is mildly interested in the cat in his foster home, occasionally bounding up to her as if to play. She doesn’t care for dogs and usually just leaves and so far he hasn’t pursued her beyond that. Cole and his three siblings (Brooks, Mae & Lark) were found abandoned in a box in Branson, MO before being brought in to rescue with Mo-Kan. Their birthday was initially listed as March 23, 2021 on their intake paperwork, but they are likely a couple weeks younger than that. We did run a full Embark DNA panel on Cole. Cole is being fostered in Manhattan, KS.
