Charming Charlie is just the guy you are looking for if you like to hike, jog, play ball, swim, spend time outdoors, teach tricks, train for dog sports and end your day with a cuddle! Charlie is everything you want in a border collie but if you don’t use his energy, enthusiasm and intelligence wisely, he will be all the things you don’t want in a border collie! Charlie is full of energy, quirks and charm. He loves ball, toys, cuddling, rides well in the car, is good for grooming and bathing but needs a few cookies for nail trims. He hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t like but will destroy the stuffed or soft ones. He enjoys a good dental chew or stuffed kong as well. He gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home from puppy to senior. Charlie is fully crate trained (but doesn’t really love it there) and housebroken. He is well mannered in the house and listens nicely. He knows some basic commands and has started learning nose-work. Charlie will chase and obsess over a cat if they are very active and would do best with very laid back cats or no cats. Charlie’s main dislikes are being pulled by the collar, thunder and staying in his kennel when something fun might be happening. He walks fairly well on a leash but does need work to not chase cars or critters while on the walk. Charlie was surrendered by a family who did not have time to properly engage him and it’s important he find a forever home that is dedicated to focusing his energy properly and providing plenty of appropriate exercise. Without proper direction Charlie will obsessively chase cats, herd the other dogs, moving exercise equipment or anything else that stimulates him. A herding breed experienced home with a standard above ground fence is preferred. No under ground fences.
